Glenlivet 10 Year, Signatory 1st Fill Sherry Butt
A more sherried expression of what you will typically find with Glenlivet. 100% un-offensive but not what I would consider thought provoking. More of a learning curve single malt showing the less decadent side of what sherry is capable of in a Speyside malt.

Nose: Vibrant Granny Smith Apple flesh. Freshly diced mixed fruit. Spiced pear & semi-sweet lemon. Apple sauce with a healthy spoonful of cinnamon. Tons of apple all around. Although the sherry is assertive, I sadly suspect a sulfured butt. Struck match, but zero smoke. Very gentle. Some dried fruit further back with freshly covered caramel green apples from the fair. Lemon furniture polish. Sour candies.
Palate: Sweet. Slightly syrupy. The diced fruit falls into the palate. Not terribly complex, a straightforward, compitent sherried Glenlivet. Fresh in all the hallmark Glenlivet strides.
Finish: Medium. The caramel lingers but the apples are all but gone. Surprisingly spicy start to the finish but mellows out swiftly. Some mild smoke.
